About the Member Meeting:
This year, the Member Meeting will feature a keynote from Lorrie McAllister, Associate University Librarian for Collections Services and Analysis at Arizona State University (ASU). In the context of our increasingly networked information environment, Lorrie will discuss the work ASU is undertaking with a grant from the Mellon Foundation entitled “The Future of the ASU Library Print Collection: A Collaborative and Data-Driven Approach to Stack Design and Curation”. The project pushes the boundaries of traditional collection development workflows and processes, prompting them to seek new methodologies for engaging with users, planning their collections, and evaluation open stack and high density storage strategies. Lorrie will frame the efforts at ASU Library with three common threads: the collections as public good, the use of resources in alignment with mission, and how best to grapple with the historical legacy and content biases of these collections.
