Susan Stearns has been the Program Director for EAST since its founding in 2015. Then Executive Director of the Boston Library Consortium (BLC), Susan was instrumental in gaining the initial grant funding for EAST, in expanding the membership, and in developing the current self-sustaining business model. She retired as Executive Director of the BLC in 2020, but continues on as Project Director for EAST.
Prior to joining the BLC, Susan worked for a number of vendors serving academic, special, and public libraries including CLSI, Faxon Research Services, Northernlight Technologies, Inmagic, and Ex Libris. She spent her early career working as a corporate and academic librarian including at Abt Associates in Cambridge, MA and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Susan has an AB from Mount Holyoke College and an MS in Library Science from Simmons College. She lives with her family in Cambridge, MA.
