We’ve found some titles in our retention commitments that are bound with other titles that are not committed to retain. Should we add retention commitments to all titles in ‘bound with’ volumes?

This scenario most likely arose when individual marc records were submitted for collection analysis for each title in the bound volume. Not all of the titles subsequently matched the EAST retention criteria. Given that the volume will be retained, it makes sense to add commitments to all titles in the volume, though it is not required by EAST. In short, the decision whether to add retentions to all titles in the bound volume is left to the owning library’s discretion. Any additional titles committed to retain should be registered with OCLC.
